Week 8: 20 October - 26 October, 2008

Monday

• Learning Flex. Got right-click functionality working, although Adobe is a serious pain in the butt about it. 2h

Tuesday

• More studying Flex. Writing HTML wrapper to manage SWF; express install? Deep Linking? Also, I may need to put some right-click codes in the wrapper. 2h

Friday

• Coding. Plus looking into Ant for building. 1.5h

Saturday

• International Collegiate Programming Competition!

Sunday

• Coding; Got Ant working; installed AXDT Eclipse plugin for superior ActionScript and Flex support - better now, I think; refactoring and restructuring existing code into a new project. I've got to think about structure architecture a lot more than I have been. Also need to start really using the subversion repository I set up, as code is starting to get divided up between school and home, which is not good. 3h

Total work time: 8.5 hours

Plans:

• Time is starting to run low, so I need to focus on banging out features for the video player. I'll look at basic controls first, then fleshing out interactivity, then getting the controls real solid.
• Integration on a page will be last. That will end up being a fairly big job, since it needs to integrate into a wiki system. Maybe I can use the wiki I use on the project site? Then I wouldn't have to write it myself, but I would have to learn how this one works. Regardless, it means I'm going to have to finish the Flex stuff quicker than will probably be comfortable.
