Week 15: 8 December - 14 December, 2008

Monday

• Poster 1.5h

• Attended CSC colloquium on RIA and teaching youngters on the internet.

Wednesday

• Fixing up action and region editing. Actions now edit correctly, and update all affected regions. Implemented a listener scheme to do this. Action name editing now works, and updates all pertinent objects. That was more involved than one might think. Working through some defects. It now happens that actions don't show up properly on region edit panel load, although they are definitely set correctly, and refreshing the list sets them properly. I think this may be a flaw in Flex, but it was working before so I don't know. Wasn't able to resolve it. 4h

Thursday

• Add and delete Actions. Still can't get Region list to refresh Action information on Action list change. Very annoying. 1.5h

• Fixed Regions showing action incorrectly on startup and on action change. Extended List and made an explicit update method available, although I wasn't happy about it. Fixed the problem, though. Began subtitle editing. Designed interface for doing this; it's complicated, but hopefully elegant enough to the user. Started building a implementation of it using simple objects, and have it working to an extent. Will move this to actual Subtitle objects next. 5h

• Added XML output functionality to editor. Does not write to server, as this is a big security risk that I'm not ready to take on just yet. Instead writes to local log file; for now I'll copy and paste from there until I'm feeling better about writing stuff to the server. 1h

Friday

• Cleaned up some videos and prepared new demonstrations in preparation for Senior Projects poster day. Videos are not great, but hopefully they show enough of the system's capabilities to get the point across. Reviewed poster and things I would like to talk about with people who inquire about the project. I even took a shower. 2h

• Presented project and poster at the CSC poster fair/free lunch. Professors seemed impressed, which is good. Not many students showed up, though, which is too bad.

Sunday

• Writing up some comments in the code to make the craziness not seem quite as crazy. There's a lot of //TODO in there still. Wrote some help documentation for the system, took some screenshots. Made said help available from home page of suteki system. Code compiled and packaged. Source archived. Final release uploaded. Wow, there's a lot more still to do. But that'll do for now. 4.5h
